Catholic Prison Chaplain - Part-time

 

Based at Hawke’s Bay Regional Prison - Hastings.

  • Challenging and rewarding part-time role - 20 hours flexible.

  • Use your ministry skills to co-ordinate religious services and provide pastoral support.

We’re looking for a Catholic Chaplain who is ready to journey with prisoners in the Hawke’s Bay Prison working within the chaplaincy team and with our amazing faith-based volunteers. The role requires a special combination of experience, skill and personal qualities.

Applicants should demonstrate a personal faith commitment, relevant pastoral formation and experience, a high level of personal maturity and judgment, a resilient personality and success working in teams.

Hours will be negotiated with successful applicant.

Prison Chaplain - Part-time

 

Based at Northland Regional Corrections Facility - Kaikohe

  • Use your ministry skills to co-ordinate religious services and provide pastoral support

  • Challenging and rewarding part-time role - 24 hours

You will have the opportunity to journey with prisoners in the Northland Regional Corrections Facility working within the chaplaincy team and with our amazing faith-based volunteers.

We're looking for someone who is ready to journey wirh prisoners as they encounter the challenges of prison life and separation from loved ones and whanau. Someone who has theological training, a deep faith, pastoral experience and is comfortable and knowledgeable with te reo and tikanga. A person who can provide group and individual services and pastoral support, and lead and co-ordinate volunteers.

A reasonable level of physical and pscychological fitness is required to work within the controlled and demanding prison environment. Also experience working with youth or those with mental health issues would be an advantage.

Every day will be different, so adaptability is important.
